Radial Artery Access Cardiac Catheterization

RMH Cardiologist, Dr. David McLaughlin, explains the advantages of radial catheterization. In the past cardiac catheterizations were done by using the femoral artery in a patient's leg, but a radial catheterization uses the radial artery in the wrist.

Radial catheterization is more comfortable for patients, even allowing patients to literally walk out of the room after the procedure is completed. Another big advantage are the outcomes, the complication rate is much lower.
