RMH Cardiologist, Dr. David McLaughlin, explains the advantages of radial catheterization. In the past cardiac catheterizations were done by using the femoral artery in a patient’s leg, but a radial catheterization uses the radial artery in the wrist.
Radial catheterization is more comfortable for patients, even allowing patients to literally walk out of the room after the procedure is completed. Another big advantage are the outcomes, the complication rate is much lower.
Cardiologists at the RMH Heart and Vascular Center have been performing this procedure for three years. To hear the full interview click below:

Both Lam and Fitzgerald are a Certified Breast Patient Navigator from the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC).
The RMH breast health navigator program began in 2005.
